Why We Care
I am a grandmother to 6 beautiful children. My oldest daughter has four kids ranging from 10–18. She’s a full-time mom who also works full time, and this past school year was one of the hardest she’s had in years — injuries, illnesses, the works. I kept trying to figure out how I could help more.
She mentioned that her 10-year-old was skipping lunches he didn’t like at school, and she felt guilty that she couldn’t add one more thing to her already overwhelming plate. I told her I could make school lunches and drop them off every Sunday for the week. The kids loved them — and they remembered them on their own, because they felt special. Grammy made them.
That’s when Grammy on the Go was born. I saw the need for busy families firsthand, and then my old social worker hat kicked in and said: seniors need help too.
